Like a fine wine, some themes just get better with age. Such is the case with a theme first introduced in mid 2007, called Creamy. It was a stylish, highly polished theme with drop shadows, rounded corners, brilliant colors, and the sexiest navigation of any RapidWeaver theme at that time. Creamy went on to be one of our best selling products. Creamy’s success led to a wider version being created and then a pair of WordPress versions as well.

In early 2009, after a brief departure from the seyDesign family, Creamy was reborn as Creamux, a completely rebuilt theme that incorporated both the narrow and wide versions of the original, added loads more features and enhanced it greatly with new technologies like ExtraContent. Just like its predecessor, Creamux went on to be one of our most popular themes.

Now in mid 2010, with the recent releases of Flavorite and Havnit, we sought to carry on the Creamy legacy with bigger and better features, smart technology and adherence to today’s newest standards…

The All New Creami3: the Legacy Continues

Creami3 carries on Creamy’s great heritage of stunning looks and couples it with more power than even Creamux could dream of. With the new smart navigation and smart layout abilities, almost any look is possible with Creami3. With the ability to detect what options you are using and which ones you are not, Creami3 intelligently sets up the best layout for you — rounding corners when they need to be and displaying ExtraContent when it’s present, for example.

Creami3 is packed with many great features like 6 ExtraContent areas, built in slide show with 20 customizable banners, variable size rounded corners, many widths to choose from, sidebar width and positioning and a great selection of typographical control. But it’s the intelligent features you don’t see that are Creami3′s greatest strength.

The Smartest Smart Layout

Smart themes, like Creami3, allow you to worry less about theme settings and more about making a great looking site. In Creami3, you no longer need to use the option panel to turn bits of the layout on or off. Creami3 has a smart layout, smart enough to detect which portions of the site you are using and enable that part of the layout for you.

This is even true of ExtraContent. Just add your ExtraContent and Creami3 will render its portion of the layout for you. No more having to dig through the options to turn ExtraContent areas on.

Whether you’ve chosen to use a header or not — Creami3 knows if the title bar should be rounded all over or just on the bottom. The same is true of each content area as well:

→ If you have nested pages, the sub menu will inherit the rounded corners where the top of your rounded content would have been.

→ ExtraContent immediately above or below the main content will inherit the rounded corners where the top of your rounded content would have been.

→ Much like the title bar, the copyright bar will adjust its corners depending on whether it detects the use of ExtraContent in the footer.

Great Slide Show With Greater Control

Just like the ever popular Havnit and Flavorite, Creami3 employs the same, easy to use, built-in slide show, enabling users to treat their visitors to wonderful presentation of up to 20 transitioning banner images. With the click of a button you can have a great looking slide show on your site… no code, no mess!

Smart Navigation… and then Some

Creami3 uses our new smart navigation method to distribute the sub navigation components to their designated areas. Simply put, it’s one navigation in two or more different places. The end result is a multi-tiered navigation system that is produced with 50% to 66% less markup. This means much cleaner, more semantic code.

HTML5 and CSS3

It’s where the web is going so we are adopting future forward methods and employing the new HTML5 and CSS3 working drafts. Because of this, we are fast tracking on our upcoming modern browser support policy by a few months. Creami3 officially supports IE8+, Safari 4+, Firefox 3.5+, Opera 10.5+, and Chrome 5+. You are free to use Creami3 with IE7 but your experience may be somewhat hindered by speed.
