Celebrating 4 Years; New Theme and Big Savings!
It’s hard to believe we’ve been doing this this for 4 years! We have remained unwavering in our pursuit of RapidWeaver theme perfection. In that time we have seen a lot of developers come and go and have remained close with those who’ve stuck around. We’ve enjoyed highs and suffered lows and in the end our drive, passion and determination to be the best RapidWeaver theme developers we can be has led us to this… a four year success story that we can only be proud of!
We continually strive to improve both our products and ourselves as a company and we do it for one reason, the reason that got us here in the first place… you, our loyal customers.
So from our eternal appreciation of everything you have made possible for us we would like to offer you a discount code worth 30% off your entire shopping cart. This offer ends on December 7th so don’t delay.
Discount code: birthday2009
And what good is discount code without anything new and shiny to spend it on?
Our All New RapidWeaver Theme, GiD3OUS
GiD3OUS, our latest theme for RapidWeaver 3.6 and above, is the culmination of months of design, planning, and exhaustive testing. We believe the end result is our finest work to date.
This is a design we’ve been sitting on for nearly a year now. Chris (DEVi8) brought it to the table even before CR3ATiV3. We’ve been refining and revising it constantly — we didn’t want to even think of coding it until we knew it could be done right. That’s why much of what we’ve released in the last year has been in preparation for GiD3OUS.
We could have made GiD3OUS a fixed, graphical layout with very little flexibility, but this layout warranted more. The GiD3OUS theme deserved to be as flexible as we could manage and that meant we had a lot of new ideas to test out before hand, like work done previously on advanced systems such as 3 tier navigation, rounded corners, combination drop menus and ExtraContent … all of which we put together to make GiD3OUS the flexible, easy to use but highly polished theme that it is.
As a seyDoggy Ultimate theme, GiD3OUS comes fully loaded with powerful features, including width control, 3 tier tabbed navigation, rounded corners, ExtraContent, and a variety of others:
- 2 ExtraContent areas
- RWmultitool ready
- 10 customizable headers
- 10 customizable footers
- 3 tier hybrid-split navigation
- sidebar positioning
- comprehensive color control
- width control
- font size and style selections

Also Check out Some Updates
We have also dropped some minor updates to 5 other themes, badNas, Tuo, TW004, TW005 and TW006. Be sure to check those out and update your themes today.
THEME WEAVER’s TW005 has been brought over to seyDesign
By the spring of 2007, THEME WEAVER was looking for another basic RapidWeaver theme to offer the public. TW005 was billed as a simple, yet versatile theme for RapidWeaver, offering a clean, subtle backdrop that wouldn’t overshadow your creativity or your content. TW005 comes with professionally crafted “Headbands”; additional header graphics you can drop into RWmultitool Lite to create a look that’s all your own.
Formed in late 2006, THEME WEAVER of Mississauga, Ontario, is the RapidWeaver theme development wing of print studio, PUMP Communications/Presentation Plus. Guided by Adam Merrifield of seyDoggy/seyDesign fame, THEME WEAVER successfully produced 10 new themes from January 2007 to February 2008 and issued updates through to October 2008.
Today, due to time constraints on both parties, it’s been decided that THEME WEAVER themes will be distributed and supported by seyDesign. Keeping them as originally intended will be the primary goal, but in some cases, enhancements and embellishments have been made where ever the opportunity has presented itself.
Features at a glance:
- Rwwmultitool Ready
- 8 Custom headers
- Graphic enhancements (“Headbands”)
- Sidebar Positioning
- a little Color Control

We’ve gone and hired us some help!
It has been a long time coming. We’ve been in need of help around here for quite some time and we have finally taken that step forward. It’s one thing to have a small legion of contract contributors to the seyDesign team like Varsis Studios, Vortex, Med Designs, etc… But when it comes to actually running all the operations around here, from customer support, to press releases, site upkeep, product development and product launch… for that, there is, for the most part, only me.
But today is different. Today I am very proud to announce that Chris Cifonie of DEVi8.design and the designer behind the very popular DEViANT RapidWeaver theme is now an official, part-time employee of seyDoggy. Over time Chris will be taking on the role creative director/webmaster but for now Chris’ primary role is to create the beautiful theme styles and the gorgeous demo sites for each product.
There is no question about it, Chris has a killer design style. If there was any doubt, Chris was the guy behind the Med Design Bubblegum styles. We’ve never received as many positive comments on our theme styles as we did with Bubblegum so clearly Chris has the touch.
We are looking forward to Chris’ help in the coming months. This now frees us up to work faster, harder and move forward with newer designs and greater updates. So welcome aboard Chris.
RapidWeaver Classroom Cross Promotion
Back on January 5th, our parent company, seyDoggy Web and Graphic Design, quietly launched ExtraContent.info in support of our recent launch of PlayMore. We would have liked to say something about it sooner but time simply just got away from us. ExtraContent.info is a community site intent on helping new users get the hang of ExtraContent enabled themes. We hope it will soon be filled with lots of great material soon.
But this brings us to the bigger point of this post. We have recently hashed out a cross promotional deal with RapidWeaver Classroom. You can get a 20% discount from your subscription with RapidWeaver Classroom when you sign up at the seyDesign Google Group. What’s even more incredible is that you get 50% off all seyDesign themes when you sign up for a membership with RapidWeaver Classroom! Put those two great offers together and you’re looking at a total of 70% savings! Woo-hoo!
NEW THEME: seyDoggy PlayMore, with ExtraContent
When we introduced our first ExtraContent enable RapidWeaver theme, Gotem, we had high hopes of the concept doing well among advanced users. We never imagined that it would take off as wildly as it did with all levels of user experience. This wide adoption rate gave us the confidence to take the idea further.
Gotem was a great proof of concept, but we knew we were after a bigger picture. Our latest theme, PlayMore takes the ExtraContent feature another step further with more flexibility, more control and more freedom. The ExtraContent areas, 3 of them, are now just a part of the fluid design of this exquisitely crafted RapidWeaver theme.
seyDoggy PlayMore, is another Ultimate theme for RapidWeaver and has lots of features. It includes numerous snippets, the original header graphic art (which I presume your wouldn’t want to use) and the RWmultitool project files used to create the headers (which will help you create your own).
Features at a glance:
- 3 Extracontent Areas
- Multiple Widths
- Rwwmultitool Ready
- Header height
- 10 Custom headers
- Sidebar Positioning
- Font control
- Highly Comprehensive Color Control
- and more…
NEW THEME: seyDoggy Gotem, with ExtraContent
The Beatles once said, “I get by with a little help from my friends.” That is definitely the case with the technology behind the latest theme from seyDoggy, Gotem. Our latest RapidWeaver theme is a sophisticated, contemporary RapidWeaver theme of extraordinary beauty and capability. But it also sports a new technology called ExtraContent.
ExtraContent came about when a handful of 3rd party developers got together to address the need for more content spaces in RapidWeaver. While the content area and sidebar are ample space for the vast majority of RapidWeaver users, there are some who want more flexibility to add content in ways keeping with todays modern web designs.
ExtraContent was the solution agreed upon by these developers as an easy means of end users adding more content to their site, in developer designated areas of ExtraContent enabled themes. While these areas will vary from theme to theme, the process will be very much the same. These developers worked closely to come up with a solution that would give all users a common experience.
I want to give a special thanks to Guiseppe from (((Bonsai Studios))) and Gary from RWT for sharing a common vision with me. You can look for new ExtraContent enabled themes from them VERY soon.
Features at a glance:
- ExtraContent enabled
- Two ExtraContent areas
- 10 Custom headers
- RWmultitool Ready
- Split navigation
- Width control
- Header height control
- 3 background textures
- Dual sidebar control
- Choice of font style
- Color control
- and more…
’sey’Design by Example, we’re in print
There is no greater flattery than to be made an example of so when we were asked some time ago if we would consent to being published in DesignMeltdown’s, The Web Designer’s Idea Book, I was truly honored.
Today, I received my copy in the mail and was thrilled to find these kind words on page 102 along side a screen shot on page 103:
"A great example of a unified design is the seyDesign site. It has an office theme, and everything flows together perfectly. The corkboard background creates a terrific foundation to tie the site together. It essentially gives the office supplies a place to exist."
Of course this isn’t how the site looks today, but for this 2007 iteration of seyDesign.com to be forever immortalized in print is a true sense of accomplishment. All in all, RapidWeaver developers as a whole had a good showing in this book with various sites. Adam from Elixir Graphics has already written about his contributions. and I’ve heard there are more, I just haven’t had time to look through each page yet.

THEME UPDATE: Acumen r3 fixes navigation shift
At risk of completely echoing everything I said about cataLog the other day, I have for you the Acumen update that addresses the same problem, the mysterious shifting second level navigation. It was only a few of you going through this, or at least only a few of you who recognized the trouble enough to bring it to my attention. The fix was similar to that of cataLog, though not exactly the same so we have had to put Acumen through it’s own bit of testing, hence the delay of it’s release.
Again, I won’t bore you with the details here, as I have gone on about it at length here, and having now labored through this issue twice I can say that I have about had my fill of DOCTYPE differences. Acumen is now fixed like it’s sibling, cataLog, and we have now issued the update to Acumen.
Again, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience this has caused the group of you who had this occur to them but we are confident that you can now put this behind you. We want to thank John Coyne and Marten Claridge for all your work in guiding us to the problem and diligently testing our fixes along the way.
For more details on the fixes visit the Acumen update section or download the update directly here.
THEME UPDATE: cataLog r3 fixes navigation shift
I have very good news for both cataLog and Acumen users, that we have found the cause of the mysterious shifting second level navigation that was plaguing a small handful of you (no, I no longer consider you crazy). After an exhaustive search we were finally able to trace the odd occurrence to a conflict or difference in interpretation between the Strict DOCTYPE and the Transitional DOCTYPE and their respective roles in rendering the inline-block property.
I won’t bore you with the details here, as I have gone on about it at length here, but I will just say that we were relieved to finally be able to replicate the issue ourselves and find a resolution to the problem. We have fixed and are now releasing the update to cataLog and the update to Acumen should come out later this week.
We would like to apologize for any inconvenience this has caused the group of you who had this occur to them but we are confident that you can now put this behind you. We want to thank John Coyne and Marten Claridge for all your work in guiding us to the problem and diligently testing our fixes along the way.
