NEW FREE THEME: seyDoggy Holiday09
It’s almost Holiday time and I am sure a lot of you are scrambling to get your Holiday cards out. Or perhaps, like me, you don’t send cards, in favor of a more environmentally approach… like a web card! That’s exactly what I was creating yesterday when it dawned on me… why not make this a RapidWeaver theme for all to enjoy! So I did.
It’s not much, doesn’t have many feature and it’s not supported… but it’s free! Who can argue with free? They say Christmas is a time for giving. I say they’re right!
seyDoggy Holiday09 is a very basic RapidWeaver theme designed for a basic holiday greeting to your friends, family, colleagues, clients or customers. Holiday09 includes just a few options to get you going — Width (600px to 1000px), Navigation Hide/Show for a very basic, single level navigation system and Sidebar Right/Left/Hide.
Holiday09 is free and open source (with attributions) under this license. Do what you like with it but remember where it came from and give credit where credit is due. Holiday09 is also provided AS IS. We will not be supporting this theme. It’s pretty basic, doesn’t include much and isn’t likely to cause any issues. That said, should you find any issues, feel free to let us know, just don’t expect a solution right away.

GiD3OUS, our latest theme for RapidWeaver 3.6 and above, is the culmination of months of design, planning, and exhaustive testing. We believe the end result is our finest work to date.
This is a design we’ve been sitting on for nearly a year now. Chris (DEVi8) brought it to the table even before CR3ATiV3. We’ve been refining and revising it constantly — we didn’t want to even think of coding it until we knew it could be done right. We could have made GiD3OUS a fixed, graphical layout with very little flexibility, but this layout warranted more. New Theme, New Look!
We are proud to present you both a new look and a brand new RapidWeaver theme. seyDoggy Sleeker is a new feature-packed template that combines rich texture, sleek lines, and subtle lighting with power-user-options and an innovative hybrid-split navigation. The end result is an Ultimate seyDoggy theme unlike any other, and a fresh new look for the seyDoggy site that are proud to show off.
Every year around this time we update our look, launch some new products, and generally set the pace for the final quarter of the year. The release of Sleeker is, in a sense, the culmination of a variety of new methods and design trends we’ve been dabbling in for a little while and we thought it was time to update our site to follow suit.
We have a few new tricks up our sleeve with Sleeker that we think might be new in the RapidWeaver game: hybrid-split navigation that allows RapidWeaver users to have both a horizontal menu that hides sub-menu items in a tidy drop-down panel, as well as the option to display those same sub-menu items in a vertical navigation system in the sidebar.
I can’t say for certain whether it’s been done before in a RapidWeaver theme, but I know I have never come across it. Certainly not without the use of Javascript. I’ve been wrong before though so don’t quote me on it.

RapidWeaver 4.3 Is Now Available!
Realmac Software has just announced this morning that RapidWeaver 4.3, their anticipated Snow Leopard OS X 10.6 update, has been released. Initially caught off guard when Apple released the update to the Mac operating system nearly one month ahead of schedule, the dedicated team at Realmac Software have been going full bore to get RapidWeaver to run rock solid on Snow Leopard.
RapidWeaver 4.3 comes with many new features and numerous bug fixes, some of which include:
- Snow Leopard compatibility
- Added the ability to add and edit links in Styled Text views via the right-click contextual menu
- The right-click contextual menu now exposes the default commands for searching Google & Spotlight, Dictionary lookup, suggested spellings
- RapidWeaver now uploads all the assets relating to a site, and then uploads the pages themselves to ensure that pages display correctly when published
- Google Analytics code is no longer output when previewing within RapidWeaver to prevent pageview number inconsistencies
- No longer bounces the dock icon when publishing completes
- Fix for a bug where a plugin failing to load could leave RW in an unknown state
- Shortcut keys added to link panel (command-1/2/3)
- Shortcut keys added to site setup sheet (command-1/2/3)
- Fixed a bug where editing the meta tags or page assets in the page inspector didn’t mark the page as changed

All Theme Weaver Products Now at seyDesign
We have finally managed to squeeze out the last of the RapidWeaver themes in the THEME WEAVER series making the transition from their original home on the THEME WEAVER site to our own site final. It’s been a long and complex process–updating 10 themes in no small feat–but we’ve managed. Most of the updates in this batch were just house keeping, getting them ready for a long future on seyDesign.com, but there are two examples, TW008 and TW009 where the changes were more significant.
What’s new in TW008?
Major performance enhancements; with newer and better technologies to make Internet Explorer behave, we’ve been able to dramatically trim down the image sizes. All other browsers need not suffer anymore due to IE’s inadequacies.
What’s new in TW009?
We have completely rebuilt TW009 and added so many new features. The headers in TW009 can now range from showing just one or as many as five in a row. Each header spot can be any one of 12 customizable headers. And each header now sports the same rounded corners as the rest of the layout. In addition, you can control the height of the header area o turn it off all together.
We have also added a plethora of feature to TW009 such as ExtraContent, font options, completely remapped and enhanced color options and more.

THEME UPDATE: CR3ATiV3 r2 Updates Safari 4 issue
Our popular CR3ATiV3 has been updated to resolve a small rendering issue we experienced with the recent release of Safari 4. At the bottom of the content area the small triangle was displaced down by 1px making it appear disconnected.
Themes TW003 and TW004 now join the seyDesign lineup!

We’ve gone and hired us some help!
It has been a long time coming. We’ve been in need of help around here for quite some time and we have finally taken that step forward. It’s one thing to have a small legion of contract contributors to the seyDesign team like Varsis Studios, Vortex, Med Designs, etc… But when it comes to actually running all the operations around here, from customer support, to press releases, site upkeep, product development and product launch… for that, there is, for the most part, only me.
But today is different. Today I am very proud to announce that Chris Cifonie of DEVi8.design and the designer behind the very popular DEViANT RapidWeaver theme is now an official, part-time employee of seyDoggy. Over time Chris will be taking on the role creative director/webmaster but for now Chris’ primary role is to create the beautiful theme styles and the gorgeous demo sites for each product.
There is no question about it, Chris has a killer design style. If there was any doubt, Chris was the guy behind the Med Design Bubblegum styles. We’ve never received as many positive comments on our theme styles as we did with Bubblegum so clearly Chris has the touch.
We are looking forward to Chris’ help in the coming months. This now frees us up to work faster, harder and move forward with newer designs and greater updates. So welcome aboard Chris.
Announcing the ExtraContent Stacks Plugin
On February 18th Isaiah of YourHead Software announced the release of Stacks 1.0, a brilliant RapidWeaver plugin for easy yet exquisite page layouts. It’s possibly one of the most advanced and powerful page layout tools we’ve seen for RapidWeaver to date. But Isaiah also released the API for Stacks to allow developers like myself to hook into the power of Stacks and create our own custom stacks to add to the Stacks library.
Having recently addressed concerns of whether or not accessing ExtraContent areas in ExtraContent enabled themes was difficult to do with little fragments of code I seized the opportunity to explore the new Stacks API to find a better way. That’s how I came up with the ExtraContent Stacks Plugin, a custom Stacks library item that allows you o utlize ExtraContent without snippets or code. Just drag and drop it into your page like any other stack and build on top of it. From the comfort of the Stacks interface you can choose the ExtraContent area you wish to access and then build your your layout inside of it. Everything inside the ExtraContent stack will render in the ExtraContent area you chose. Watch this movie to see it in action.
Just like ExtraContent, the ExtraContent Stacks plugin is free and open source. If you are a developer who has embraced ExtraContent in your themes then feel free to distribute this custom Stack as an added bonus.

seyDesign and Med-Designs bring back RetroFilm
It recently came to our attention that Med-Designs had closed up shop. Being one of the original RapidWeaver theme developers, Med-Designs has been one of those names you’ve gotten used to seeing in RapidWeaver circles, so you can imagine our surprise to see that kind of institution shutting it’s doors.
I promptly contacted Scott of Med-Designs and asked him what he had planned for his theme library. Before long we had struck up a deal to bring the works over to seyDesign.com and breath some new life into them. So it is with great pleasure and a certain amount honor to bring you the legendary theme, RetroFilm
RetroFilm, a highly stylized RapidWeaver theme from Med-Designs gives you the sense you are looking at a salvaged bit 35 mm “Safety” film. For the movie buffs, this old stock of a theme should fit your movie blogs or review sites just fine. Tickets please!
RetroFilm has been totally reworked to bring it up to date with RapidWeaver 4 and has also had a few feature enhancements. We’ve made all of the headers and footers RWmultitool. We have also added the much asked for width feature, which is fully compatible with all headers and footers. Enjoy this old theme like it’s new all over again.
